Welcome to BeatSync. We believe in full transparency about how we handle your data. This document covers BeatSync's general data collection and business-analytics practices. For the disclosures required by Google — including exactly which Google user data we access and our Limited Use commitments — see our Privacy Policy. Google user data is excluded from the aggregate business-analytics practices described below.
BeatSync is currently offered as a free-to-use fitness application. In exchange for free access, you agree that certain usage data and anonymized personal information may be collected, aggregated, and used for the purposes outlined below. By creating an account and using BeatSync, you acknowledge and consent to the practices described in this Data Collection & Management Policy.
1. Information We Collect
When you use BeatSync, we may collect the following categories of information:
a) Account Information
Your name, email address, age, and date of account creation. Your age is used to calculate your maximum safe heart rate (220 − age) and is essential to the app's safety features.
b) Workout & Heart Rate Data
Heart rate readings from connected wearable devices (Fitbit, Apple Watch), workout types selected (Cardio, Strength, Yoga), HIIT session data including intervals, durations, and completion rates.
c) Music & Preference Data
Genre selections, playlist interactions, BPM-to-music matching patterns, and frequency of use across workout modes (Free Play vs. HIIT).
d) Usage & Engagement Metrics
Session frequency, session duration, feature engagement rates, device connection patterns, and general app interaction data collected via analytics.
2. How We Use Your Data
Your data may be used for the following purposes:
- i.Product Improvement. To enhance BeatSync's features, algorithms, and overall user experience, including refining heart-rate-to-music matching accuracy.
- ii.Demonstrating Product Viability. Aggregated, anonymized usage data — including total active users, session frequency, engagement metrics, and retention rates — may be compiled into reports, dashboards, or presentations used to demonstrate BeatSync's market traction to potential investors, acquirers, partners, or stakeholders.
- iii.Business Transactions. In the event of a potential sale, merger, acquisition, or licensing of BeatSync (in whole or in part), anonymized and aggregated data may be shared with prospective parties as part of due diligence. Individually identifiable data will not be sold or transferred to third parties without additional explicit consent.
- iv.Analytics & Reporting. To generate internal analytics regarding app performance, user demographics (age-based, anonymized), and feature popularity.
- v.Safety & Compliance. To monitor and improve the accuracy and reliability of safety features, including max heart rate alerts.
3. Data Sharing & Third Parties
We may share data with the following categories of third parties, subject to the limitations described herein:
- •Analytics Providers (e.g., Google Analytics) for aggregated usage tracking.
- •Music API Partners (e.g., Spotify) to provide BPM-matched playlist recommendations. Only workout type and target BPM are shared — no personal information.
- •Potential Business Partners or Acquirers in the context of a sale, merger, or business evaluation. Only anonymized, aggregated data will be shared unless you provide separate written consent.
We will never:
- • Sell your individual personal data to third-party advertisers
- • Share your email address with marketing companies
- • Provide individually identifiable health/heart rate data to insurers or employers
4. Data Retention & Storage
Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including:
- •Encrypted password storage (bcrypt hashing)
- •Secure, authenticated API endpoints
- •Session-based access controls
- •Database encryption at rest
Aggregated, anonymized datasets derived from your usage may be retained indefinitely for business analytics and historical performance reporting, even after individual account deletion.
5. Your Rights & Choices
You have the following rights regarding your personal data:
Right to Access
Request a copy of all personal data we hold about you.
Right to Correction
Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
Right to Deletion
Request deletion of your account and associated personal data.
Right to Withdraw Consent
Withdraw data collection consent at any time by deleting your account. Note that this will terminate your access to BeatSync.

6. Free Access in Exchange for Data
BeatSync is provided to you at no monetary cost. In consideration for this free access, you acknowledge and agree that your anonymized usage data, engagement metrics, and aggregated workout statistics constitute valuable data that BeatSync may use to demonstrate product-market fit, user engagement, and commercial viability to potential investors, partners, or acquirers. This arrangement is the foundation of BeatSync's free-tier model.
If you do not agree to this data collection arrangement, you may choose not to create an account. Continued use of BeatSync after reviewing this policy constitutes acceptance of these terms.
7. Changes to This Policy
We reserve the right to update this Data Collection & Management Policy at any time. Material changes will be communicated via email or through a prominent notice within the application. Your continued use of BeatSync after any modifications indicates your acceptance of the updated terms. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
